Felipe Barreto Veiga is the founder of BVA Advogados and leader of the firm’s M&A, Venture Capital, and Private Equity practices, representing companies, startups, family offices, banks, and investment funds from more than 60 countries.

At BVA, he led the structuring and legal advice of a volume of more than BRL 4 billion in venture capital, private equity, joint ventures, and M&A transactions, having reached the top positions in the TTR – Transactional Track Record ranking in 2019, 2020 and 2021 as one of the biggest dealmakers in Brazil (+100 closed deals).

Under his coordination, the BVA M&A and Venture Capital teams entered the Euromoney IFLR 1000 and Legal 500 rankings in 2021 and 2022. He was individually recognized by the Leaders League in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 as one of the best lawyers in Startups & Innovation, by Latin Lawyer Reference 2017 and 2018, and also by Análise 500 in 2018 as one of the most admired lawyers in Brazil in the sector of banks and financial institutions.

Author of articles and books published in four languages. Co-author of the book “Nada Easy,” by Tallis Gomes, a best seller that is among the best sellers on Amazon in its category, and of the books “Marco Legal das Startups” and “Direito no Metaverso,” both published by Ed. Journal of the Courts/Thomson Reuters.

His performance as an M&A lawyer is portrayed in the best seller “Saída de Mestre” by João Cristofolini and Eduardo Cosomano, which tells the story of the sale of Pegaki to Intellipost.

Felipe is a speaker at several events in the technology sector, such as Conta Azul Con, Locaweb M&A Conference, C-Summit, etc.

He is a professor at Link School of Business, Societário Academy, and G4 Educação.

  • Legal advice for two of the largest Venture Capital funds in Brazil, having carried out more than 30 angel investment and Series A operations for these funds alone, which together exceed R$ 100 million;
  • Lawyer of the largest Brazilian technology company for e-commerce in its internationalization process to more than 20 countries, having also acted in the round of funding in the amount of R$ 580 million;
  • Leading lawyer in the investment operation made by the largest cosmetics company in Brazil in a Brazilian startup in the wellness sector, one of the largest transactions in the history of the Brazilian market;
  • Leading lawyer in the spin off that originated the largest API company in the world, as well as in the investment round with institutional investors. He also acted in the sale of control of the company to one of the largest technology companies in the country, in a transaction of approximately R$ 100 million;

  • Lawyer for the largest wellness company in the world and the second largest condom factory in Brazil in negotiations with Chinese banks, in a private equity operation;
