With five years of experience at top-tier U.S. law firms such as Skadden Arps, Pablo Arana joins BVA to strengthen its transactional practice and boost the firm’s international expansion strategy.

BVA – Barreto Veiga Advogados announced on Monday, August 4, that Pablo Arana has joined the firm as a new partner in its Corporate, M&A, and Business Law practices.

With a strong international track record and nearly five years of experience at leading U.S. firms (including Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Gibson Dunn), Arana joins BVA to strengthen its transactional capabilities and support the firm’s ongoing push for international growth. Pablo holds an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a Business Certificate from the Wharton School. He is admitted to practice law in both Brazil and the state of New York.

“BVA stands out as a forward-looking firm with global ambition, well-established practices, and a business-oriented mindset. It’s an honor to join a team with such credentials, composed of highly qualified professionals capable of advising clients on complex, high-stakes matters. In the years ahead, we aim to further grow the firm’s client base and transaction pipeline, particularly in M&A and capital markets, while also bolstering deals involving regulated industries such as energy and infrastructure. I’m excited about this new challenge and the opportunities that lie ahead,” says Arana.

Pablo brings extensive experience in M&A, private equity, venture capital, joint ventures, capital markets (both equity and debt), special situations, and high-value commercial contracts. He has advised on domestic and cross-border transactions across a range of regulated and unregulated sectors, with a particular focus on infrastructure, energy, and technology.

For BVA – Barreto Veiga Advogados, Pablo’s arrival marks a strategic step forward for its M&A and Business Law practices, which now comprise five partners and offer broader solutions in equity and debt transactions. The move also represents a new chapter for the Corporate team, which now includes three partners dedicated to structuring and negotiating complex business agreements and providing high-level legal counsel, primarily to multinational clients and Brazilian companies with operations abroad.

With a notable increase in cross-border transactions in its pipeline (having recently advised UAE-based MetaApply on its acquisition of IE Intercâmbio, Helisul on its acquisition of Chilean company Ecocopter, and Adopt on its sale to French firm Axeptio, among others) the firm has been expanding its range of comprehensive services in project finance, M&A, capital investments, and financial transactions, particularly for clients operating internationally or seeking access to U.S. capital markets.

“We’re proud to welcome such a highly qualified professional into our partnership and further strengthen our capabilities in strategic practice areas that are key to our clients and to the firm’s continued growth. Pablo’s arrival reinforces BVA’s commitment to technical excellence, adding to our team another attorney with solid experience in the U.S. capital markets and transactional space. His expertise will undoubtedly add tremendous value as we move into this next phase of growth, continuing to deliver increasingly sophisticated and impactful legal solutions to our clients,” says Felipe Barreto Veiga, founding partner and Managing Partner at BVA – Barreto Veiga Advogados.

In addition to his LL.M. and Wharton Business Certificate, Pablo holds a law degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and a post-graduate degree in Business Law from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). He is a member of both the São Paulo Bar (OAB/SP) and the New York Bar. In Brazil, he previously worked at law firms including Lefosse, Arap, Nishi & Uyeda, and Araújo e Policastro.
