Gustavo Fiuza Quedevez

Gustavo Fiuza Quedevez is a partner at BVA and leads the firm’s Commercial Contracts, Real Estate, Secondment & Legal Operations, and Data Protection practices. He has 20 years of experience advising clients across the technology, energy, infrastructure, chemical, aviation, retail, advertising, pharmaceutical, automotive, electronics, real estate development, and healthcare sectors, both in Brazil and internationally.

He holds an LL.B., a postgraduate degree in Tax Law, and an MBA in Business Management. He further enhanced his academic background by completing a Compliance program at Insper in 2016 and the Legal Technology & Legal Operations program at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany.

Gustavo is recognized for combining deep technical expertise with a strategic approach to contract lifecycle management, leveraging the latest Contract Management and Legal Operations methodologies to reduce legal risk and create business value for his clients. In the Real Estate practice, he advises on both traditional real estate transactions and complex infrastructure projects and M&A transactions with significant real estate components.

In the Secondment practice, Gustavo is recognized for his ability to understand each client’s operational environment and to structure and manage customized legal teams that work seamlessly alongside in-house legal departments, with a strong focus on compliance and operational performance. He currently co-leads the practice with partner Lucas Abiz Luna.

His practice also encompasses corporate governance, with a particular focus on data privacy and protection under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD). He advises clients on the design and implementation of compliance programs, risk mapping and assessment, and internal investigations.

Having built his career both at leading law firms and within corporate legal departments, Gustavo is recognized for his ability to understand each client’s business objectives and deliver pragmatic legal solutions aligned with the strategic goals of every transaction.

He is a member of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), author of the book Governança Contratual – Elementos Práticos (Contract Governance – Practical Elements), and a frequent contributor to thought leadership publications in his areas of practice.

• Training and coordination of a multidisciplinary team formed by 24 lawyers, to provide specific assistance to a multinational cosmetics company;
• Review and update of contract drafts, managing working group integrated with business areas;
• Development of a project for the elaboration and implementation of contractual drafts related to the treatment and disposal of waste, privileging the development of strategic partners and adapting the contractual models to the reality of the partners involved in the execution of the treatment routines themselves;
• Project development involving the construction of new distribution centers, with the preparation of minutes linked to the real estate operation and also a robotic separation line to be installed. Performance in the process of acquisition, transportation, nationalization and installation of the separation line;

Aviation

Advised a leading Brazilian airline on multiple strategic matters, including the redesign of standard contractual privacy and data protection clauses; the drafting of Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs) and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international data transfers; the development of a strategic response to official communications received through non-standard reporting channels; a legal risk assessment and action plan related to the relocation of the company’s headquarters; and the negotiation of the termination and surrender of premises located within a publicly concessioned airport, including a transaction with cross-border elements.

Energy

Led the initial mapping of personal data processing activities for a multinational energy company, delivering a risk mitigation and LGPD compliance roadmap, followed by ongoing compliance support. Also conducted a compliance and data protection investigation involving the unauthorized disclosure of whistleblower information during an internal harassment investigation, a matter involving significant regulatory exposure due to the company’s operation under a public concession.

Electronics

Delivered LGPD training for a multinational electronics manufacturer; advised on the sale of industrial real estate assets; structured a technology-sharing partnership for equipment manufacturing, including the mapping of strategic and sensitive personal data; and updated the client’s privacy compliance program, including the implementation of Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international HR data transfers to its foreign headquarters, together with recommendations for a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA).

Technology

Conducted a gap analysis and designed a comprehensive LGPD compliance program for an industrial technology company, including the establishment of a Privacy Committee and the implementation of internal policies. Issued a regulatory opinion regarding the applicability of Brazilian Central Bank regulations to a digital identity and biometric technology company. Designed an LGPD compliance program for a mobility platform operating in the vehicle rental and app-based mobility market. Developed privacy policies and terms of use for a digital health platform involving sensitive health data of patients and healthcare professionals. Conducted a real estate risk assessment in connection with the acquisition of properties intended for data center operations. Advised a multinational technology company on the wind-down of its operational structure across Latin America.

Retail

Conducted a compliance and data protection investigation involving the unauthorized disclosure of personal and commercially sensitive information affecting a shopping mall operator, resulting in the identification of a fraudulent scheme involving the company’s internal procurement processes.

Real Estate Development

Advised a real estate developer on real estate due diligence in connection with a debt restructuring and capital increase transaction. Structured the legal framework for an urban regeneration and historic preservation project, including the commercialization of naming rights associated with a vertical farm. Negotiated the creation of easements across multiple neighboring properties. Conducted a regulatory assessment concerning zoning and land-use restrictions for a high-value rural property.

Designed the privacy framework for a digital healthcare platform focused on sleep medicine, including the segmentation of personal data processing activities by user category, such as patients, healthcare professionals, and service providers.
